Before I start trying to catch up...

...I must post these sayings from 'the big 3 year old' (birthday post coming soon) before I forget!!

Yesterday evening: 'Daddy, how does the sun set?' (Nathan gave him the full earth-rotates-on-it's-axis answer and he listens so intently and says 'oh, ok'.) What barely-3 year old thinks of things like that??? Apparently one that loves nothing more than playing outside during these beautiful days we have been enjoying!

During his prayers last night: 'Thank you God for Uncle Nic and his golf clubs!'

And possibly my favorite so far:
When telling Nathan how proud he was of the great job he did with something... 'Daddy, you are as smart as a duck!'

I don't think there are words for an explanation on that one.

Priceless!!

Children's Museum

Cortni and I took the boys to the children's museum for the day - wow...that place is FUN! So glad we have something like that close by. We will definitely be going back!!

The fishing was Garrison's favorite!

Found the G!

(Very into letters these days....)

This was ...interesting.

A full exhibit on how the digestive system works...and where 'things' end up. Complete with a slide into the potty and flushing sound!!

More Christmas!

This is picture overload, but at least I'm getting Christmas wrapped up! Then hopefully I can catch up on a few things I never got arond to blogging about...

Grandmama came for Nathan's birthday on the 22nd, so we celebrated Christmas also while she was here. Garrison LOVES his mini golf course!!

And of course we went to Meme's on Christmas Eve night - one little boy was particularly excited to see his 'T'!!

(oh, I almost forgot this was after he completely slept through our Christmas Eve service at church!! :) At least that way, I did get to enjoy the service!)
Opening presents with Meme!

Christmas morning we were at home for Santa, then went to church - then to Sassy & Pop's for lunch and presents!

I really think Pop needs this framed for his office... priceless! :)
Garrison loves his weedeater and leaf blower!
Excited for new boots!!
Givin' Sassy a little love for his new boots!
and...from Uncle Nic - NEW GOLF CLUBS!!! 'REAL' ones, as Garrison calls them... :)

Then that evening, it was on to Nana & Papaw's for MORE food and MORE presents!!

VERY excited over this Golf Glove - just like Papaw and Uncle Nic!
(Are you sensing that golf is one of his favorite hobbies these days???)
Of course, he insisted Nana join him in his Cars tent!
And his favorite from the night, a Mickey Mouse rocketship!!!

Christmas was SO much fun this year!!!
And quite exhausting as well!

Santa Came!!

Well, since I don't quite know where to start to catch up on all that I've missed, I'll just start with Christmas and hope to go back at some point to highlight a few fun things we've done!

Christmas was SO much fun this year!! Garrison surprised us all and even grew to like Santa Clause...major accomplishment since last year!

So, we prepared Santa some Chocolate Milk & Cookies - only Chocolate Milk would do!

Sprinkled the reindeer food -

(Terrible picture, but the only one of me with him in forever. New Years resolution needs to be do be sure I take more of me with him so he can look back one day and remember what I looked like! ha!!)

And Santa surely did come!!!!

And Garrison did not know what to think! He was seriously way overwhelmed!

The much anticipated 'bow & arrows' - just like his Daddy's!!

And the 'Popper Fishing Pole' he desperately wanted from Bass Pro Shop (his favorite place on earth!)... really it's a Pop Gun, but he thinks you 'pop it' and it 'becomes' a fishing pole...

Binoculars, PJs, and Boots.
Ready to go!

The 'after' -
And Daddy playing with the remote control car!

I wasn't quite ready...

...For this day (Monday)...Garrison's first day at school
(ok, so it is just Mother's Morning Out, but still!!)

He was sleeping so soundly when I had to wake him up...

but I could see that sweet grin poking through...
He was excited!

We managed to get all dressed and ready to go -

...and take a few minutes to snapshot the moment...

Walking in - all smiles...

He walked proudly into his room and helped me hang up his bag and put all his things in his cubby. All was well, til his smart self looked around the room and realized no other Mama's were there and I could suddenly sense him getting a little tense... I gave him a hug and continued 'unpacking' - then eased out of his room without making a scene.

Then I messed up.

I peeked back in through the window.

He was just standing there - looking around...looking for me.

Then I messed up a second time and looked in again.

He had his little hands up by his face and I could see the tears welling in his eyes. I knew if I was going to leave, I had to go then, or I'd never be able to leave that building without him!! So I did.

I walked on to my car, trying to not be upset and keep telling myself that he is going to be fine - then, I saw Hope - Thank you Lord for sending her at that moment, He knew I needed a friend to tell me Garrison was going to be fine and that I would be fine too!! :) She let me cry a little and I went on my way to work.

I had a few moments of tears, and kept watching the clock til time to go get him! (And I kept telling myself that this was my idea - no one told me I had to send him...) I just kept feeling like I had abandoned him - that I had left him in an unfamiliar place with no one he really knew. ( I think I got a little 'over dramatic' and hope to do better tomorrow! :) )

Finally it was 11:20 and I bolted to go get him - when I got there, he was nearly asleep in his teacher's lap! Bless him. He was exhausted!! She said he had a good time - didn't stay upset long that morning and had a great time on the playground! He wasn't too happy when they came back in, but that is perfectly normal for him! ha!

This was when I picked him up - he was telling me about the blue sucker Ms. Deidra gave him!

He told me a few things about his day - played on the playground, specifically the slide and bus, had snack, goldfish and a cookie, and played with Barrett and 'a gurl' (the story I got from him was that he (Garrison) was playing with the microwave, and the 'gurl' was playing with the refridgerator - and 'her needed to get out of my way'!!....oh me....!! We have a lot to learn about sharing!).

We celebrated by going to Pizza Hut for lunch - his favorite!

I guess we'll find out tomorrow how much fun he had on Monday - day two will be tomorrow.

To follow up on my sweet friend, Hope - she just emailed me this...not sure where she found it, but it's a big tear jerker...and seems to fit my feelings pretty accurately!!

I wonder what you're doing right now,
And if everyone is treating you kind.
I hope there is a special person,
A nice friend that you can find.

I wonder if the teacher knows
Just how special you are to me.
And if the brightness of your heart
Is something she can see.

I wonder if you are thinking about me,
And if you need a hug.
I already miss the sound of your voice
And how you give my leg a tug.

I wonder if you could possibly understand
How hard it is for me to let you grow.
On this day know that my heart breaks,
For this is the first step in letting my baby go.

So I don't forget...

While I was at Cosmo tonight, Nathan & Garrison enjoyed some McDonalds supper then rode around town looking at various road construction equipment (do you know of anything in Kosciusko that would be a more entertaining Tuesday night?!?!)...Garrison got to see a paver and roller actually laying asphalt. Apprently this was SUPER exciting to him - when I got home, he was using his duck to 'work on the asphalt'...this little guy never ceases to amaze me!

(working asphalt in PJs and Toms shoes, of course!)

I'm so thankful for his wonderful Daddy!!
And I'm pretty sure Garrison thinks he hung the moon. :)
